Thanks to Alyssa...

Thanks to Alyssa M. of Oh So Very Classic, I have received my very first blog award! I couldn't believe that I had... it was very kind of her. I will do the full post for the Versatile Blogger Award as soon as I can, and for now, I would just like to thank her! :)

P.S. I discovered that her blog is a fairly new one and I think she'll have some good reads soon, so you should go and follow her ;)

While having her tea, Roz heard about the blogger award and was very happy! After all, this blog came to be because of her ;)

Photo of the Day - Happy wednesday!

After a rough several days, I am back to my chipper self (at least for the time being)... I feel a sense of relief and peace with myself after experiencing a few things personally... and here I am again to share a couple photos that I hope you will like :)

I chose this because I looove Jimmy Stewart and when Roz is with him, it's even better! They are just adorable together and funny, too. They were good friends in real life and I know he said a few words at her funeral.

I had to share this not just because Roz is being her usual goofy self having fun with her friend Robert Montgomery, but because a lot of my friends just love Irene Dunne and it's so nice to see them together (and by the way, Irene looks as lovely and charming as ever here).

Photo of the Day

Good morning, everyone!!

I am housesitting this weekend and it is pretty boring. So let's try to liven up this day with a fun Roz photo... hehe

I couldn't resist... Roz at age 2, she's just so adorable!

wanted to include this one because I think it's fun to see Roz doing something at her own home that she enjoyed besides acting (and making us laugh!)--gardening! :)

Happy Halloween!

I apologize for not having any Halloween photos to post today... but I'll leave you with this amusing still from my favorite movie "Auntie Mame" (1958)! Isn't Roz funny, shaking hands with a monkey? ;)

By the way, absolutely nothing happens here on Halloween! No trick-or-treaters, even. I almost forgot it was even Halloween. How about you all? Howas your Halloween?

Sorry, everyone. Haven't been feeling too well lately, so haven't been blogging. Here is a double photo of the day for you...

Adorable photo of Roz with her son Lance

I always thought this photo of her was just stunning!

Photo of the Day

Here is Roz with her co-star, Gig Young, from the film "Tell it to the Judge" (1949) (by the way, he was once married to "Bewitched"'s Elizabeth Montgomery)

Photo of the Day - October 23, 2012

Here is a lovely color photo of Roz from probably the late 1940s

wow, it's been forever!!

Considering the last post on here was about the winner of the 1940s category of the Classic Actress Tournament back in April... I can accurately say that I have really neglected this blog. Unfortunately, I have not been passionate about classic movies this year, which is just terrible and I hope it'll come back to me again. Roz is still my favorite actress, of course. I just haven't been paying attention to classic film and classic actor/actresses in months.

I apologize to the readers of this blog if they were expecting an update long before now. I have decided that I will at least do a "Photo of the Day" on the blog so it will be constantly updated. I'm in a bit of rut in my life at the moment and in the near future, I hope to expand the blog to include more than just photo posts.

Take care!

CONGRATS TO JUDY GARLAND

Congratulations to Judy Garland for winning the entire 1940s era! For what I thought would be a close match ,at least, wasn't. Judy beat Bette 70-56.... It must have been difficult for Bette to lose by such a large margin....

This concludes my part in the Classic Movie Actress Tournament. The final four will be voted on over at Monty's blog All Good Things

Speaking of which, a huge thank you to MONTY for letting me take part in this, I enjoyed every second!!!

Round 2 FUNNY LADIES/GIRLS NEXT DOOR and SINGERS/DANCERS Results

WOW, that was one intense round! Roz and Jane Wyman both put up quite a fight. They were neck and neck for just about the entire Round 2, Lucy being in an intensely close match with Eve Arden as well. Even Judy didn't fare so well because it was probably expected that she would win by a landslide, but she won by just several votes. On the other hand, Rita Hayworth crushed her competition from the start (Ann Miller).

These are the final vote counts for Round 2 (Record number of votes on my blog for the first match):

Rosalind Russell vs. Jane Wyman 79-74
Lucille Ball vs. Eve Arden 68-66
Judy Garland vs. Betty Grable 58-54
Rita Hayworth vs. Ann Miller 59-40

In the end, there were no upsets, but can I get a "hip hip hooray" for our girl ROZ?

She says she is just exhausted after that match, but relieved, to say the least!

Matches for Round 2: FUNNY LADIES/GIRLS NEXT DOOR and SINGERS/DANCERS

Here are the matches staring tomorrow 3/15:

FUNNY LADIES/GIRLS NEXT DOOR
ROSALIND RUSSELL VS. JANE WYMAN

LUCILLE BALL vs. EVE ARDEN

SINGERS/DANCERS
JUDY GARLAND vs. BETTY GRABLE

RITA HAYWORTH vs. ANN MILLER

SOPHISTICATES and DRAMA QUEENS Round 2 Results

WOW, three upsets here, I have to say! Things like this just make this tournament more exciting, really.

Vivien Leigh, who won the entire 1940s era, last year, unfortunately lost to Gene Tierney. I was very shocked to see this, but what a fight Gene put up and won, too!

Two other upsets occurred with Olivia de Havilland beating out Katharine Hepburn, and Lauren Bacall beating Ingrid Bergman. However, the reigning drama queen, Bette Davis, beat her opponent, as was expected.

These are the final vote counts for this part of the tournament:

Vivien Leigh vs. Gene Tierney 44-51
Ingrid Bergman vs. Lauren Bacall 37-54
Bette Davis vs. Joan Fontaine 58-39
Katharine Hepburn vs. Olivia de Havilland 44-54

P.S. FUNNY LADIES/GIRLS NEXT DOOR and SINGERS/DANCERS polls for Round 2 will be up tomorrow =)

Results of Part 2 of Round 1!

And the polls have officially closed for the end of Round 1 of 1940s era of the 2012 Favorite Classic Movie Actress tournament! We already know the finalists for Round 1 of the first two categories, but this is how it turned out for Round 1 for the FUNNY LADIES/GIRLS NEXT DOOR and SINGERS/DANCERS categories.

Rosalind Russell vs. Jeanne Crain 58-17
(I knew our girl Roz could do it, and she knocked it out of the park!)

Jane Wyman vs. Donna Reed 47-43
(This one was a close match all the way through. Sometimes when I checked, Jane was winning, and sometimes Donna was winning. What a match!)

Lucille Ball vs. Maureen O’Hara 53-37
(I have to say, this one was the most interesting for me. Lucy seemed to be losing pretty badly in the beginning, but then she really went ahead and got quite a few votes and won out in the end)

Eve Arden vs. Teresa Wright 35-27
(Funny lady Eve Arden and Girl next door Teresa Wright battled each other in this one, and Eve had the lead most of the time, but it was still pretty close)

Judy Garland vs. Margaret O’Brien 57-12
(This probably isn’t too surprising. The one and only Judy Garland beat out Margaret O’Brien by an astonishing 45 votes)

Betty Grable vs. June Allyson 39-25
(This one was also a fairly close match, but Betty’s million dollar legs beat out June’s girl-next-door smile in the end)

Rita Hayworth vs. Hedy Lamarr 48-19
(I wasn’t sure how this one would play out, but Rita really beat out Hedy in this match of the beautiful bombshells)

Ann Miller vs. Virginia Mayo 34-24
(Ann had the lead on Virginia the entire way, but it was a pretty good match)

P.S. Round 2 with the finalists of Round 1 will begin on Monday, March 12th. See you then :)
